“After” is the typical story of a good girl who falls in love with a bad boy.

The film is a more innocent and politically correct version of Anna Todd´s novel. The actress who plays Tessa, Josephine Langford, has the angelic appearance and innocent look of the protagonist but at the same time the character that stands up to Hardin. However, the actor that plays Hardin, Hero, is more distant from how the books describes him, his presence is not that powerful. The Hardin of the book is pretty rough and  the one in the movie is nice and even sweet. Tessa´s and Hardin´s relationship in the book is much more toxic than in the film.

In my opinion, the book is better than the film because it has more details of Tessa´s and Hardin´s relationship and you can imagine how the characters are physically, without seeing them, with the descripcion that the book gives.
